“Self-realization is the knowing — in body, mind, and soul — that we are one with the omnipresence of God; that we do not have to pray that it comes to us, that we are not merely near it at all times, but that God’s omnipresence is our omnipresence; that we are just as much a part of Him now as we ever will be. All we have to do is improve our knowing.”

— Paramahansa Yogananda —

Self-Realization Fellowship
Glendale Temple

Temple 03 front.jpgNestled in the sunny hills of Glendale, California, this temple is a branch of Self-Realization Fellowship, the international nonprofit society founded by one of the preeminent spiritual figures of our time — Paramahansa Yogananda.

Since its inception in 1920, Self-Realization Fellowship (SRF) has introduced truth-seekers worldwide to India’s age-old philosophy of Yoga and its time-honored tradition of meditation.

The Glendale Temple is the result of a generous gift to SRF and to all truth-seekers.   Everyone is welcome to attend our weekly public lectures, meditations, Sunday School classes for children, and other events aimed to disseminate the timeless teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda and help us create spiritually harmonious lives and a more compassionate and peaceful world.

SRF Announces New President

Brother Chidananda Elected President and Spiritual Head of SRF/YSS

Brother Chidananda Elected President and Spiritual Head of SRF/YSS

The Self-Realization Fellowship Board of Directors is happy to share with you the news that Brother Chidananda has been elected president and spiritual leader of Self-Realization Fellowship/Yogoda Satsanga Society of India, succeeding Sri Mrinalini Mata, who served in this position from January 2011 until her passing last month. His appointment was made by a unanimous vote by the SRF Board of Directors on Wednesday, August 30, 2017.

Prior to her passing in 2010, late SRF President Sri Daya Mata expressed her conviction to Mrinalini Mata that Brother Chidananda should succeed Mrinalini Mata as president and spiritual head of SRF/YSS. Mrinalini Mata confirmed this some months before her own passing on August 3, 2017, and affirmed to the Board of Directors her agreement with Daya Mata’s recommendation.

Brother (Swami) Chidananda has been a monk of Self-Realization Fellowship (SRF) for forty years, and a member of the SRF and YSS Boards of Directors for the last eight years. Almost from the start of his monastic life, he had worked closely with Sri Mrinalini Mata, receiving her wisdom-permeated, Guru-attuned training as he assisted her in the editing and publishing of the works of Paramahansa Yogananda and other SRF publications.

donate_thank.jpgWe are now accepting donations for expenses incurred from work on the hillside behind the temple from the fire in 2013. These funds will be used to support the mud control and mitigation efforts of cleaning up the mud that spills into the parking lot after heavy rains. Donations we receive in response to this appeal will be deposited into the Glendale Temple Building Fund at the Mother Center and will be used to support these efforts. It may also be used to cover other expenses which are not typically funded through our operating budget. For more details and information click here or the image to the right.
