“Self-realization is the knowing — in body, mind, and soul — that we are one with the omnipresence of God; that we do not have to pray that it comes to us, that we are not merely near it at all times, but that God’s omnipresence is our omnipresence; that we are just as much a part of Him now as we ever will be. All we have to do is improve our knowing.”

— Paramahansa Yogananda —

Welcome to
Self-Realization Fellowship
Glendale Temple

Temple 03 front.jpgNestled in the sunny hills of Glendale, California, this temple is a branch of Self-Realization Fellowship, the international nonprofit society founded by one of the preeminent spiritual figures of our time — Paramahansa Yogananda.

Since its inception in 1920, Self-Realization Fellowship (SRF) has introduced truth-seekers worldwide to India’s age-old philosophy of Yoga and its time-honored tradition of meditation.

The Glendale Temple is the result of a generous gift to SRF and to all truth-seekers.   Everyone is welcome to attend our weekly public lectures, meditations, Sunday School classes for children, and other events aimed to disseminate the timeless teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda and help us create spiritually harmonious lives and a more compassionate and peaceful world.

Monday Evening Meditation
The Monday evening meditations will now be a regular part of the weekly schedule at Glendale Temple.  Beginning at 7:00 with group practice of the Energization Exercises, the meditation will include a few periods of chanting and will conclude at 9:00 p.m.

Open Meditation
An open, un-led meditation will be held every Tuesday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Small Chapel, and every Thursday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Main Sanctuary.  All are welcome.  You may enter at any time.

Study Group
GitaCover.jpgArjuna-Gita.jpgGlendale Temple’s scripture Study Group reads God Talks With Arjuna: The Bhagavad Gita every Tuesday evening in the Small Chapel.  The evening begins with an open meditation from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., followed by the Study Group from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. God Talks With Arjuna: The Bhagavad Gita is Paramahansa Yogananda’s commentary on the The Bhagavad Gita, The Royal Science of God-Realization. The Bhagavad Gita has been revered by truth-seekers of both the East and West, yet its deepest meaning, cloaked in allegory, has remained obscure. In God Talks With Arjuna, Paramahansa Yogananda offers a translation and commentary of unparalleled scope and vision. Exploring the Gita’s psychological, spiritual, and metaphysical depths, he reveals the innermost essence of this majestic scripture while presenting an enlightening and deeply encouraging guide to who we are, why we were created, and our place and purpose in the vast cosmic scheme of things.  No prior reading is necessary, and copies of The Bhagavad Gita will be provided for you to use. You may join us for one evening or on an ongoing basis.  All are welcome.

Centennial-logo-for-homepage-and-page-banner.jpg

The year 2020 marks a profoundly significant milestone in the history of Self-Realization Fellowship — the 100th anniversary of Paramahansa Yogananda’s arrival in America from his native India, and his founding of Self-Realization Fellowship, the worldwide spiritual organization he established to disseminate his Kriya Yoga teachings. To commemorate this auspicious occasion, we are planning a number of special events throughout 2020. We have a detailed program and an outline of many of the major events that will take place in the anniversary year.
